Panorama 1453 Tarih Müzesi (Panorama 1453 History Museum)

Be transported back in time and witness the Ottoman siege of Constantinople in 1453.

Located on the Topkapı-Edirnekapı ramparts where the 15th-century siege took place, see history come alive at the Panorama 1453 Historical Museum. Opened in 2009, this historical museum in Istanbul recreates the scenario of the monumental battle which saw the Ottoman troops wrestling power and control from the Byzantine's hegemony over ancient Constantinople. The dramatic Fall of Constantinople is brilliantly captured in a majestic painting, which measures 38 meters in diameter and covers an area of 2,350 square meters. With the help of cannons, Mehter bands and thousands of paintings and figurines, the museum is an excellent presentation of that fateful battle. For a more immersive experience, discover for yourself how the Ottoman Sultan Mehmet II gained the title of Fatih (conqueror) using the audio guide available.
