Palisades Park

Enjoy a scenic view as you stroll along this park.

The Palisades Park in Santa Monica covers 26.4 acres, offering a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. It’s the perfect location for a relaxing stroll, away from the hubbub of the city. With large, grassy areas and an abundance of pine and fig trees, the park is a visual delight. Along your walk, you will notice that you are atop the clay-red cliffs of Santa Monica as you gaze at the Pacific Coast Highway. You might catch sight of the unmistakable Santa Monica Pier with its red-and-yellow Ferris wheel and looping rollercoaster. In fact, it might seem familiar - and that’s no surprise because it’s a postcard picture of LA’s coastline.

Let the vibrant atmosphere inspire you to head to the pétanque courts, or drop by the Santa Monica Camera Obscura, which projects a live image of the adjacent beachfront. No matter how old this optical contraption is, the magical effect never seems to fade. As you wander to the rose garden, you will find a bust of Arcadia Bandini and a wood sculpture titled “Gestation III”, aligned with the setting sun of the winter solstice. You can even find a Native American Totem Pole at the northern end of the park, and cannons at the southern end. This will certainly be a walk to remember.
