Pala’au State Park

A scenic path through ironwood and eucalyptus forests, this park features expansive pasture lands, leading to Kalaupapa Lookout.

The Palaʻau State Park is a 233-acre area featuring the Kaule O Nanahoa (the phallus of Nanahoa), and therefore a sacred site for boosting fertility. Many women still come here to increase their fertility and pay homage to this sacred rock by bringing offerings! Walking through the beautiful and scenic forests, leads to the Kalaupapa Lookout which enables a classic view of Kalalupapa from 1000 feet above. Kalalupapa was once the place where people suffering from leprosy were banished and compelled to live. The Palaʻau State Park is a good place for camping and picnics. Good to go on family outings or group outings as this park has them all- waterfalls, dense jungle, and beautiful Hawaiian landscape.
