Orsanmichele Church and Museum (Chiesa e Museo di Orsanmichele)

A site of commerce transformed into a place of devotion, see the Orsanmichele Church where miracles happened.

Completed in 1404, the Orsanmichele was converted into a church, and its fascinating façade was embellished with different patron saints. Traces of its commercial past are evident on the ground floor which formed the loggia of the grain market, and on the third floor where the municipal grain storehouses can be found.

Be enchanted by the late gothic appearance of its interior and the dazzling jewel-studded Gothic Tabernacle (1355-59) by Andrea Orcagna. Gaze at the repainted Madonna and Child by Bernardo Daddi where miracles were attributed to the original Virgin painted on a pillar, and be mesmerized by the stained glass depicting scenes and miracles of the Virgin (1395-1405) by Niccolò di Pietro Gerini.
