Old Synagogue, Kraków

Come and marvel at the wondrous collections of Jewish relics.

The Old Synagogue, which is otherwise referred to as the Alta Shul in Yiddish, was built in the early 1400s and is the oldest of its kind in Poland. As one of the remaining precious Jewish landmarks in Europe, this synagogue prides itself as a rare example of a place of worship with architectural elements of a fortress, such as thick masonry walls and windows that are raised much higher above ground level.

Step inside and be awe-inspired by its stunning Gothic interior and see the amazing displays of religious relics, artefacts from the Kazimierz Jewish quarter, old family photos and other memorabilia. A precious landmark steeped in history, which one should not miss while in Kraków, this is certainly a place which beacons to all the history buffs out there.
