Oakland Bay Bridge

The sister bridge of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Although not as famous as its counterpart the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge is still a popular site that connects the city of San Francisco to Oakland. Known simply as the Bay Bridge by locals, the bridge has one of the longest spans in the United States, carrying about 260,000 vehicles daily on its two decks. Visitors can choose to walk or cycle the approximately 3.5-kilometre path to access Treasure Island, where a fun-filled day of activities await. Drop by the bridge in the evening to witness The Bay Lights, which features 25,000 LED lights along the bridge’s cable, illuminating the night sky. First intended as a temporary art installation, The Bay Lights was made permanent in 2016, allowing visitors to enjoy its beautiful illumination from dusk till dawn each day.
