Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek

Be astounded by the 10,000 or so artworks collected by Carl Jacobsen, son of the founder of the world-famous Carlsberg Breweries.

An impressive art museum, the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek houses more than 10,000 works of art. See the extensive collections of sculptures from Egypt, Rome and Greece, as well as more modern ones by Rodin. Be awe-inspired by the 1900 or so pieces of Egyptian art which dates back to the 1st century CE, and the jaw-dropping Near Eastern Collection with artefacts from 6500 BCE.

Admire the exquisite collection of paintings by famous masters such as Monet, Renoir and Cézanne, as well as Danish paintings from the Golden Age. Keep your eyes peeled for the wonderful sculpture of the Little Dancer of Fourteen Years by Edgar Degas and the intriguing Nasothek – a display of noses used for restoration. Certainly worth checking out, regardless of whether you are a fan of Carlsberg beer or not.

Tips Before You Go
Tuesday is free entry day for most museums, however, do take note that you won’t be able to view the special exhibitions here if that is the case. Instead of large crowds of people, the artworks themselves are rather crowded, being placed really close to one another with little to no description. Regardless, this is a great place to visit if you’re a huge art lover.
