Nu’uanu Pali State Park

Be treated to a mesmerizing panoramic view and strong refreshing trade winds from Oahu’s Windward side at the Nuʻuanu Pali State Park which is also the place of one of Hawaii’s bloodiest battle.

Located five miles from Honolulu city Centre, on the island of Oʻahu, the Nuʻuanu Pali State Wayside, is a popular getaway for tourists and locals alike. The Nuuanu Pali State Wayside lookout above the Pali Highway tunnels provides sweeping views of Kaneohe, Kaneohe Bay and Kailua where one is treated to a panoramic view of Oahu's Windward side. It is also well known for strong trade winds, forming a natural wind tunnel of sorts. The park has a bloody past as it was the site of the Battle of Nuʻuanu, one of the bloodiest battles in Hawaiian history where more than 400 of soldiers were driven off the edge of the 1,000-foot cliff to their deaths.


The area is also the location of the Nuʻuanu Freshwater Fish Refuge and the Nuʻuanu Reservoir in the jurisdiction of the Hawaiʻi Department of Land and Natural Resources and houses various fun filled trails.
