Nu’uanu Pali Lookout

A panoramic view of the windward coast of Oʻahu and also the beautiful, natural landscape of Hawaii.

The Nuʻuanu Pali Lookout in the Island of Oahu, Hawaii, offers breath-taking views of Oahu, giving a clear view of the Kailua town, the Ko'olau Mountains, and the Kaneohe Bay. A site of gruesome victory of King Kamehameha's, rumour has it, that even 100 years after the battle, almost 500 skulls were discovered at the mountain base!

As you drive up the Pali highway, tall trees and dense forests will emerge and the city will disappear. Soak in the lovely view of Kaneohe Marine Corps Base, Hawaii Pacific University’s Windward campus, and the Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden, a part of the Honolulu Botanical Gardens. Apart from the gorgeous panoramic views and historical significance of the Nuʻuanu Pali Lookout, this place is known for its various superstitions. The back of the Nuʻuanu valley has two large stones Hapuʻu and Ka-lae-hau-ola, depicting a pair of goddesses who were guardians of the passage that leads down the cliffs or pali. For a safe trip travellers offer flowers to the goddesses.
