Noryangjin Fish Market (노량진수산물도매시장))

Savour the freshest and most flavourful seafood at the fascinating Noryangjin Fish Market.

Comparable to the famous Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo, the Noryangjin Fishery Market is the largest and oldest seafood market in Korea. With an immense area of 6,000 square metres, there is much to see and eat. Early birds who make it there at around 3am will be rewarded with a lively fish auction as wholesalers bid for the freshest seafood. After the drama, explore the various stalls filled with all sorts of intriguing creatures from the sea such as blue crabs, sea snails, stingrays and more!

For the gutsy, try the slimy sea cucumber, which is eaten live after removing its intestinal tracts or chew on the wriggly tentacles of an octopus - Korean style. For those craving for a wholesome breakfast after watching all these spectacles, fret not for there are many other stalls selling more palatable seafood such as salmon, shrimps or squid which you can enjoy with some rice or soup. Do not forget to wash it all down with a glass of classic Korean Soju.

Tips Before You Go
The Noryangjin Fish Market has an extremely wet and chaotic environment; as such, you might want to don rubber boots that can withstand the puddles of (might I add, fishy) water.
