The Norwegian Railway Museum is situated at Hamar in Hedmark, Norway. It is Norway’s national railway museum and is operated by the Norwegian National Rail Administration.


Officially opened in 1912, the museum has a unique collection which includes several of Norway’s oldest station buildings relocated to the park. It contains locomotives and carriages that can be traced back to the inception of Norway’s rail system. This includes the Dovregubben system. The museum park is laid out with tracks, signals and a working restaurant car open to the public as well as the Narvesen newspaper kiosk. Many artefacts including models, objects and even games and animations are on display, certainly ready to delight your senses! The photo collection housed at this musuem is especially intriguing, showcasing photos featuring the early beginnings of the Norwegian railyway all the way back in 1860!
