New York University

With the synergy of NYU pumping life into its environs, it is definitely worth checking out some of its campuses.

Founded in 1831, New York University (NYU) has campuses scattered throughout the city, with its main one situated in Manhattan. The major cultural hubs are located in Washington Square and Greenwich Village, with much of the surrounding vibes influencing campus life and vice versa.

Always bustling with great energy, Washington Square and its gateway arch (an unofficial symbol of NYU), had its fair share of famous residents such as Jackson Pollock, the abstract expressionist painter who lived there in the 1930s. Greenwich Village is synonymous with all things bohemian and it comes as no surprise that in the 1960s, Allen Ginsberg and Bob Dylan settled there, making it the core haunt of the beatniks. An amazing place to hang out, opt to catch a performance at NYU's music conservatory and Tisch School of the Arts or simply enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.
