Nature Park Blausee

The final resting place of a broken hearted maiden with a veil over its mythical creatures of the dark, the Nature Park Blausee is a thing of bedtime stories and fairytales standing before your eyes.

All the fair maiden saw were her eyes being reflected back, the truest shade of aquamarine blue one ever saw. But they had taken on a watery quality, broken by ripples reflective of the tear in heart. She breathed in deep and let herself fall off the edge, down, down, down as the trees muffled her sobs.

Of the many myths of the Swiss highlands, this might just be a crowd favorite as locals and tourists alike try to wrap their minds around the tinted waters of Lake Blausee. A world created through pure sorcery, the Nature Park of Blausee hides this small but enchanting lake beyond several miles of easy strolls and walking trails. Through a looking hole of glass built onto the floor of your cruise, you can spot the shimmering scales of trout, glinting like gems in the light as they twist first one way then another. In fact, the trout are part of the organic trout farm on the lake and can be fished by the kilo to be packed for home. Being disconnected from the crushing monotony of city life doesn’t mean you have to forego modern luxuries at Blausee. You can spend a day or more out in the pine scented forests to explore the unknown corners and unexpected sights of the park at the hotel and spa within the park. If you thought the views of Blausee were breathtaking in summer, witness its splendor in winter to be truly blown away, not least by the winter gales that might rush past you. The branches of the alpine wood giants laden with powdery snow add color and texture to the otherwise endless vistas of icy blue and white. The lakes frozen surface resembles a glass lid, a trapped display of the lakes depths right to the very bottom. Chancing upon Lake Blausee would appear to be a step into the surreal, a fantastical kingdom of natural wonder that never ceases to amaze its visitors.

Tips Before You Go
For those who profess to have a prowess with the rod and hook, Nature Park Blausee holds an annual trout fishing event at its organic trout farm in October. One can see dozens of enthusiastic fishers entering the park grounds free of charge in order to participate in the event. The only real pity is that any fish caught at the lake can’t be cooked on the park grounds, meaning you’d have hold in your temptation and wait that extra few hours before sinking your teeth into your hard fought treasures.
