The Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden, while a national museum of natural history, also functions as a research center on biodiversity, and a cultural heritage institution. It houses an incredible collection of about 37 million specimens, making it one of the largest natural history collections in the world.


Start your adventure here by visiting the permanent exhibitions, that which includes the Primeval Parade, and the Treasure Chamber. The Nature Theatre shows you where life exists, from the smallest unicellular organisms to the plants and animals that coexist. Head on to the Primeval Parade, but not before stopping to gaze at the largest collection of wooly mammoth bones in the world! You can even see giant hedgehog, Deinogalerix, and that of the five-horned prongdeer. If you’re a geography buff, you can be sure to learn about how the Earth moves and explore a large, interactive globe on display. You will definitely leave the museum enthralled and satisfied.
