Muscat, Oman
Natural History Museum

Humble in size but bursting with fascinating facts about Oman’s wildlife.

This museum may be modest in size, but it is widely considered one of the most prominent Omani museums thanks to the wealth of knowledge that is practically bursting from the seams. Study intricate and perfectly preserved fossils of 260 million year old trees, and 270 million year old corals. Marvel at the incredible architecture of a monkey’s jaw, and compare them to the unique teeth of prehistoric animals that populated oman 15 to 35 million years ago.

From the smallest vibrantly coloured butterflies to the largest creatures on earth – the great whale – wildlife of all shapes and sizes are represented by preserved remains and realistically recreated exhibits, allowing us to learn so much about the plants and animals that characterize Oman.
