Natur-Museum Luzern

The fascinating world of biodiversity.

Perfect for families with children, the Natur-Museum offers visitors fascinating insight into the amazing and intriguing world of biodiversity. Home to the most important collection of old wasps (Family Chrysididae) in the world, and approximately 100 collections showcasing a variety of exotic flora, fauna and minerals, the Natur-Museum is also a worthwhile destination for museum lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.

The four-storey building displays both permanent exhibitions, which provide visitors with information on the resource-rich Central Swiss landscape and the region’s interesting ecosystem, and half-yearly temporary exhibitions, which explore topics of topical interest. Unique highlights of the Natur-Museum include “dragon stones” from the Pilatus in the 15th-century, and the bones of the “Giant of Reiden” from the 16th century. Undoubtedly, must-sees at this museum are the extensive collection of insects and butterflies available on the 3rd and 4th-floors of the museum, which educate visitors on the wonderful biodiversity of the insect kingdom.
