Explore a mind-blowing collection of Chinese artefacts spanning 8,000 years!
Highly reputable, the National Palace Museum is home to an astounding 700,000 pieces of Chinese Imperial artefacts. Stretching from the Neolithic age to contemporary times, the collection encompasses a staggering 8,000 years of history of Chinese art, with some rare pieces collected by China's emperors.
With so many highlights to see, do not miss the wildly popular Jadeite Cabbage with a grasshopper camouflaged in its semi-translucent green leaves. The Meat-shaped Stone is also another ‘star’ of the museum. Made of jasper, the layers and texture of this precious stone make it appear like a slab of praised pork cooked in soy sauce. Other notable works include the Magpies and Hare by Cui Bai (1061) and Travellers among Mountains and Streams by Fan Kuan (1000). These are certainly works which the history buffs and culture vultures out there would not want to miss!
