A museum which prides itself as being the largest in Poland, the National Museum in Warsaw was established in 1862. See the rich collection of ancient art from Egypt, Rome and Greece and marvel at the amazing gallery dedicated to Polish art from the 16th century. Make sure you examine the paintings from Adolf Hitler's private collection as well. Take time to appreciate the impressive collection of Chinese art in Poland, which numbers around 5,000 specimens.

Several other highlights also include the reputable Faras Gallery that houses Europe's largest collection of Nubian Christian art, as well as the massive canvas painting of the Battle of Grunwald by Jan Matejko. With a fine collection of paintings by famous artists such as Botticelli, Renoir and Rembrandt, it might be quite refreshing to explore for some offbeat ones such as The Raising of Lazarus by Carel Fabritius, Indian summer by Józef Chełmoński and the very interesting and beautiful Landscape with Robbers Sharing Loot by Jan Brueghel the Elder as well.
