A premier western art gallery and UNESCO World Heritage Site in Tokyo, Japan!

The National Museum of Western Art is a premier public art gallery situated in Tokyo’s Ueno Imperial Grant Park and its showcases specialises in western collections. In hopes of expanding its already wide collection, the museum purchases works each year and today houses over 4500 works including paintings and sculptures dating all the way back to the 14th century.


Some of its famed artefacts include paintings by Veronese, Rubens and Fragonard (many of which feature imagery from Christianity), works of Marquet, Picasso, Van Gogh and Dubuffet and drawings from French artist Moreau. In 2007, the building was given a provisional UNESCO World Heritage Site title and in 2016, was listed by UNESCO as one of 17 World Heritage Sites by Le Corbusier.
