National Museum of Singapore

Learn about Singapore’s history at the oldest museum in the country.

The National Museum of Singapore showcases the country's history and culture, through its immersive and interactive permanent exhibits. Located in a largely Neo-Palladian-styled building, the museum consists of two main galleries: the Singapore History Gallery and the Singapore Living Galleries. The Singapore History Gallery heavily features a progressive showcase of SIngapore's history and culture, depicting Singapore's story from the 14th century to the present day. Inside, visitors can explore and journey through 700 years of Singapore history.

The Singapore Living Galleries is divided into four components – food, fashion, film, and photography. Visitors can learn more about the respective themes through an array of exhibits including the oldest photographic image of Singapore, a display of spices used in Singapore's cuisine, and many more. Temporary exhibits can also be found here occasionally, and from time to time, movie screenings are held on the large outdoor screen as well – so do keep a lookout for them!
