To promote a deeper understanding of the diversity of the natural world, the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (National Museum of Natural Sciences) exhibits a large, diverse collection of specimens. Created in 1771, the museum houses over six million specimens, including algae, plants, minerals, and animals of all kinds. It is also home to a few permanent exhibits dedicated to the history of the Earth, such as the replica of a Diplodocus, a stone garden, and a Mediterranean nature and civilization exhibit, where ecosystems and fauna of the area are showcased. These collections were purchased and donated as property of the crown until 1984, where it was restructured into a modern museum. With so much historical and scientific value to its collections, this museum is truly one not to be missed!
