National Museum of Indonesia

Covering many years of Indonesian history and also varied areas, there appears there is nothing this museum lacks.

Over 100, 000 artefacts that cover a broad spectrum of areas, from ceramics, numismatics, archaeology and also geography, it’d be shocking to find something this museum doesn’t offer. Known to be the most comprehensive museum in Indonesia, it has preserved over two centuries worth of artefacts regarding Indonesia. Often referred to as the “elephant building”, this is solely due to the fact that there is bronze elephant statue situated right in front of the building.

From the broad range of artefacts found here, notable ones to check out include the Stone Sculpture Collection. Featuring Hindu-Buddhist sculptures, scriptures and inscriptions, these are all displayed in the central areas of the museum. Aside from that, check out of one of the most comprehensive collections of ancient Chinese ceramics! Judging from the few collections so far, it appears that the National Museum of Indonesia is pretty comprehensive, truly going to the depths of the earth to cover a broad and deep spectrum of artefacts.
