The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, which simply put is Miraikan, directly translating into ‘Future Museum’, is a museum officiated by Japan’s Science and Technology Agency.

Officially established in 2001, it is located in a new purpose-built building in the Odaiba District in Tokyo and can be assessed by the Yurikamome driverless train system from downtown Tokyo in less than 15 minutes!


Its exciting exhibits include real-time data displays from a wide array of seismometers across the country and other earthquake artefacts. Not forgetting, look out for Asimo, the humanoid robot! A demonstration of Asimo’s prowess is held at 4 different time slots, be sure not to miss it. Every year, be astounded by three to six specially curated exhibitions showcasing topics from the sciences to the arts.
