Established as a repository of objects of historical, social, cultural, political, scientific and heritage values, the National Museum of American History is part of the Smithsonian Institution. Replete with highlights, the crown jewel of the museum is the original Star-Spangled Banner, preserved in an environmentally controlled chamber. Other interesting exhibits include the car from Disneyland's Dumbo Flying Elephant ride, John Bull’s locomotive, the very lap desk Thomas Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence and a statue of George Washington. Gaze at the amazing Artefact walls made up of glass fronted cases, measuring 275 feet, which displays interesting works of art, popular culture and more. Check out the very novel exhibition on Taking America to Lunch and be fascinated by the amazing range of American lunch boxes on display.
