Strategically located in the heart of Copenhagen, the National Gallery of Denmark is a huge repository of artworks by both Danish and European artists dating from the 14th century to the present day. With an immense collection of around 9,000 paintings and sculptures, as well as 240,000 works of art on paper, there will definitely be something that will appeal to everyone.


Highlights include the fine collection of Danish and Nordic Art from 1750-1900. See the masterpieces from the ‘Golden Age’ of Danish paintings by artists such as Abildgaard, Købke, and Hammershøi. Other notable collections include French Art (1900-1930), European Art (1300-1800), Graphic Art and more. With so much to see, look out for some rare pieces such as the Abduction on a Unicorn by Albrecht Dürer (1516) and Venus and Cupid, the Honey Thief by Lucas Cranach the Elder (1530).
