National Art Museum of Catalonia (Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya)

See the Catalan art history in one of Spain’s biggest museums.

If you are interested in Catalan culture, head on down to the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (National Art Museum of Catalonia) and see the history of Catalan art from the Romanesque period right up to the first half of the 20th century. One of the most visited art museums in Barcelona, it covers almost all art forms, from sculptures to painting, photography, posters, and engraving.

The Romanesque art collection is widely considered to be the best in the world, both in quantity and quality, and hence should not be missed. Nevertheless, the Gothic art, along with the Renaissance, Baroque and modern art, is just as remarkable. After a long walk in the museum, take time to leisurely browse through its impressive library. Visitors can also view the spectacular Montjuïc’s Magic Fountain at its bar-terrace.
