The original headquarters of the National Archives and Records Administration, the National Archives Building houses a museum as well. With an immense record of three billion documents, visitors will be spoilt for choice.


The main highlights, which should not be missed, are the three seminal documents of the United States - the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Other important documents are the 1297 Magna Carta endorsed by Edward I, the Louisiana Purchase Treaty and the Emancipation Proclamation. Visitors can also appreciate the rare collections of historical photographs as well as culturally valuable artefacts of the United States.
