Nagasaki Peace Park (平和公園)

A place of reflection of the tragedy that ensued from the atomic bombing of Nagasaki.

Nagasaki Peace Park is a peaceful place created to remember the atomic bombing on the city of Nagasaki in 1945 that destroyed most of the city and took the lives of tens of thousands of inhabitants. The centre of the park lies a simple black monolith, demarcating where the explosion originated from, and near it is a ruined pillar of the Urakami Cathedral that was destroyed.

The park also allows one to view the layer soil below the surface where broken tiles, bricks and pieces of glass from the original explosion remain. Spend a moment of reflection at Nagasaki Peace Park, and remember the heartbreaking tragedy that occurred on that very place.
