Museum of World Culture

Reflecting the complex and diverse nature of a multicultural world, where nothing is the same or straightforward, the Museum of World Culture is an amalgamation of exhibitions encouraging the discussion of controversial issues in our world.

Understanding and adaptation are the keys to human survival, and at “Crossroads” they seek to know more about the various cultures and people that have intermingled and impacted one another in unpredictable ways to create the world we know today. Designed to cater to children of different age groups, “Together” is an exhibition detailing the challenge of living with others, as adults are encouraged to take their children’s hands and lead them through this wonderous world of caves, shadow rooms and forests, with more than 1000 objects. However, “Together” proves to be a introspective exhibition for all ages, as a light-hearted but thought-provoking experience that makes us question and analyze our everyday feelings.

The museum excels in highlighting the commonalities in human culture, with the exhibition “Feathers” detailing how Feathers feature in a range of places around the globe from Paris to Papua New Guinea. Fashionistas will love to observe the way feathers have been used in couture by the likes of Jean-Paul Gaultier and Lars Wallin. Hurry down before the exhibition prepares to move to the Museum of Ethnography on August 19, for display on October 6. The museum library and archive contain over 30,000 titles waiting to be devoured by those thirsting for knowledge about South and Central America, which make up the bulk of the collection.
