Museum of Modern Art

Immerse yourself in extraordinary art and breathtaking beauty at the Museum of Modern Art Rio.

One of Brazil’s most important cultural institutions, the Museum of Modern Art Rio, or MAM Rio, has cultivated generations of Brazilian artists and is the cradle of trends in the modern and contemporary art in the country. Despite a devastating fire in 1978, the museum is now home to more than 12,000 art pieces – the most famous of which is Mademoiselle Pogany by Constantin Brancusi. The sculpture holds a special place in the MAM Rio not just for its exquisite elegance, but also because it is one of the few original works that survived the fire. Many other famous artists also proudly display their work here, such as Jackson Pollock, Vasarely, Torres Garcia and many more.

Apart from the exhibitions inside it, the museum also boasts one more magnificent work of art – the architecture. Located at the bottom of the Enseada da Gloria, the stunning modernist building of chic grey stone and sleek glass panels perfectly complements the natural beauty all around it.
