This museum is one of the four Museums of World Culture with the noble mission aim to foster sustainable world development by spreading the word about the fascinating value in understanding the diversity of different cultures. This branch focuses on the Far East, with several permanent exhibitions available for our perusal year round; 6,000 years of Chinese archaeology, art and cultural history, a Japanese Gallery featuring arts and crafts with focus on the Edo Period and finally a Korean Gallery where you can experience arts and crafts from the 4th century up to and including the Joseon Dynasty.


If you fancy being more hands-on, give making Japanese paper art and Indian textile prints a whirl in the Dragon Family Studio, or why not have a go at Chinese Calligraphy while you’re at it? The exhibition China before China also allows you to handle a genuine Stone Age axe and feel an authentic jade stone. The explanations being in braille are but one example of the museum's impressive accessibility, and speaks of their aim to enrich everybody with cultural understanding. A visual exhibit displaying 22 gouache paintings depicting the cultivation of tea in 18th Century China is a unique way to get a more detailed picture of about Chinese trade in the Qing Dynasty.

Tips Before You Go
The museum offers a lesser known but nonetheless equally stunning view of The Royal Palace, visible from the cafe or gift shop, which would be a prime spot to take some unusual photographs. The short distance to the Moderna Museum makes it a good destination to head to afterwards to do some museum hopping.
