Museum of Death

Relics of violent deaths, macabre, extremely graphic photos of car accidents, and serial killer artwork.

Very seldom we will come across someone who makes death their life’s work, JD Healy and Cathee Shultz make one such couple who have dedicated their life to create awareness and educating the country about death (at least that was their original goal). What began as a hobby wherein the couple would write to serial killers and then show the art work to the public in exhibitions, turned to a full-fledged museum after their collection grew manifolds. Today, the Museum of Death in Hollywood, California features the largest collection of original crime scene photos, coffins, full size replica of execution devices, original beds from Heaven's Gate mass suicide, body bag, autopsy instruments, and decapitated head of Blue Beard of Paris (Henri Landru).

Founded in 1995, the Museum of Death is for the daring, for those who will not get grossed or squirm at the sight of taxidermy, autopsy videos, Charles Manson crime scenes photos, original video footage of Traces of Death, a video showcasing recruitment process of Heaven’s Gate Cult, and morgue photos. Strangely there is no age limit for entering this museum. A visitor typically spends 45 minutes to one hour in this museum and those who can digest this dark theme of gruesome killing and death, stay can be extended for as long as they can stomach it! Visitors can also shop for t-shirts, bags, caps, trinkets, and other similar items that are up for sale in the Museum shop.
