Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb

Visit Zagreb’s chic Museum of Contemporary Art.

Fond of the contemporary arts? Then come to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, home to 12,000 contemporary art pieces. Covering 17,000 square meters, this museum is also the largest in Croatia. It features works by local contemporary artists like Julije Knifer (1924 – 2004), Ivan Kožarić (born 1921) and Miroslav Šutej (1936 – 2005); as well as international artists like Getulio Alviani (born 1939), Dorothy Cross (born 1956) and Katarzyna Kozyra (born 1963). The permanent display, showcasing approximately 620 works by 240 artists, should not be missed by all visitors. However, note that the exhibits showcased here can be more audacious than the ones you see at the Tate Museum in London, or the Pompidou Museum in Paris. Once you are finished with the exhibits, try taking the fun and interactive Double Slide piece by Carsten Höller (born 1961), which brings you down to the exit in 10 seconds!
