Museum of Applied Arts

Housed in a building that also acts as an example of the pieces featured, this museum is stunning inside and out.

An art nouveau styled house built in the 19th century, this museum features interesting décor, both in the interior and exterior. A jade-green roof adorns the museum, made of porcelain tiles from the famous Zslnay factory. The jade coloured tiles glimmer and shine under the light, in the style reminiscent of Islamic and Hindu architecture. A colourful contrast to its interior, the Museum of Applied Arts’ interior is a stark contrast. Pristine, white banisters and arches are found inside, as they house other art pieces regarding applied arts. A house itself that is the perfect representation of art nouveau style, the museum is truly a work of art.

Check out stained-glass windows, in vibrant colours, jewellery and even clothing that dates back to several centuries. Materials ranging from wood, metal and glass, textiles and even paper, the exhibits here feature the craftsmanship of some of the oldest trades before. The stunning craftsmanship of Hungarians are also featured here, with ceramics and furniture. Pieces from the middle ages till present day, you will enjoy a varied selection of applied arts pieces.
