Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes

A glorious space for art lovers, and anyone in Buenos Aires.

The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, also known as the National Fine Arts Museum, is one of Argentina’s oldest museums, home to one of the most important collections of art in the world. The sheer collection of Argentine art is striking. Officially inaugurated in 1986, the building houses an incredible collection of permanent exhibitions totaling 688 major works and over 12,000 sketches, fragments and other minor works.

It’s hard to miss this lovely building coloured as pink as the Casa Rosada. You will find pieces ranging from the Middle ages through the 20th century on the ground floor, as well as gorgeous artwork from the most prominent figures of the impressionist and most-impressionist movements, from Vincent Van Gogh to Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. There’s even a treasure of works by Degas and Cézanne! Of course, you can discover Argentina’s history told in the canvases, ranging from art that the aristocracy fancied, to military history. And here’s the best part: there’s no admission fee. Head to the Bellas Artes now (no excuses)!
