Musée de la Vie romantique (Museum of Romantic Life)

Walk through the house of Ary Scheffer and admire the works of the Romantic period.

Located at the foot of Montmartre hill sits the Musée de la Vie Romantique (Museum of Romantic Life), the house of painter Ary Scheffer (1795 – 1858). Housing artefacts dating back to the Romantic period (hence its name), the museum is filled with paintings, contemporary works, as well as an entire floor dedicated to novelist George Sand (1804 – 1876). Concerts, readings, and activities for children are available as well, and temporary exhibitions are also occasionally held in the museum. Outside, a tearoom is set in the museum's garden, where visitors can enjoy a tasty snack after venturing through the exhibits.
