You’d think with such a gorgeous exterior, the interior could not be any more spectacular, the Municipal House proves you otherwise, with a design both inside and out that will blow your mind.
A spectacularly designed Art Nouveau building built in the early 20th century, the Municipal House is a beautiful civic building, right in the heart of Prague. Built on the site of the previous Royal Court palace, the remarkable craftsmanship infused in the building is something that all are amazed by.
All that said, let’s start right from the outside. The Municipal House is gorgeous, featuring intricate stonework, with allegorical art and stucco as well. As you approach the building, your jaw is sure to drop as you set your sights on the main entry. A stunning masterpiece, the central mosaic depicting the celebration of Prague is situated above the main entrance, now that’s the way to make an impression. Enter this stunner of a building as it continues to bewilder you, with a splendid marble staircase leading you to the equally spectacular Smetana concert hall. Carved from white stone and gold, glittering under the lights, they sparkle like a shiny diamond or even like stars. A popular concert venue many pine to perform at or even just visit, it is further decorated with frescoes. Resembling nothing you’ve seen before, it far surpasses all standards of stunning concert halls. As if all that wasn’t enough, you’ve yet to venture into the other rooms. Teasing you next with just one example, the Primator hall features a brilliant blue fresco all over the ceiling! A blue so gorgeous that it almost replicates an azure blue sky, this is merely the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the Municipal Hall. Don’t believe me? Well, come down and see all the magnificence for yourself. After all, seeing is believing.
