Milan, Italy
Mudec (Museo delle Culture)

Appreciate a treasure trove of Milanese and artefacts from around the world at the MUDEC.

An amazing addition to the vibrant arts scene in Milan, MUDEC was fashioned out of the ruins of the old Ansaldo factory, into a cutting-edge piece of architecture by the British architect Sir David Chipperfield. Spanning a massive area of 17,000 square metres, MUDEC’s aim is to showcase the interaction of various cultures with Milan over the centuries, through works of art. Kudos to the donations of scholars, collectors, missionaries and explorers, MUDEC amassed a huge collection of 7000 relics which date back as far as 1200 B.C.

Admire the fascinating exhibits such as artworks, instruments, books and relics from Africa, Asia, Oceania and more. A noteworthy exhibition was the renowned Klimt experience, where fragments of his works were interestingly accompanied by multimedia pieces. Many are also intrigued by the Egyptian art, so do pop by that section for a visit. Kids will be thrilled to see the MUDEC Lab, where they can get up close and learn about the different cultures of the world through interactive games and workshops.
