Mount Wilson Observatory

This futuristic observatory will have you literally seeing stars.

Mount Wilson Observatory in California is one of the most important buildings in the world of astrophysics. Its facilities aided the likes of Edwin Hubble and Albert Michelson in ground-breaking research that forever changed the way we saw ourselves in relation to the universe. With its two dome-shaped roofs peeking out above the trees for an unobstructed view of the sky, the observatory’s futuristic vibe makes it look like it came from the pages of a sci-fi novel.

Visitors can expect an enlightening experience during their trip to Mount Wilson Observatory. You’ll get to see the 100 inch telescope that helped Edwin Hubble identify the Andromeda Galaxy as a galaxy, when it was previously believed to be part of the Milky Way, from inside the dome. You should also pay a visit to the Astronomical Museum located on the observatory’s grounds to learn more about astrophysics. End off your visit with a quick stop by the Cosmic Café for a snack with an amazing view.
