Mount Sněžka

At 1,602 metres tall, Mount Sněžka is the tallest mountain in Czech Republic. “Sněžka” translates to mean snowy, which is exactly what many venture here for. With the stunning alpine environment and panoramic views it is no wonder Mount Sněžka has remained a popular tourist destination throughout the years.


With two different sides, one belongs to Poland and the other Czech Republic, each side playing host to their own structures on the mountain. On the Polish side, a meteorological observatory is situated there. A sturdy, concrete structure made up of 3 separate discs, they symbolise the world’s fascination with unidentified flying objects (UFO). Not just featuring an observatory, it also houses a restaurant and lounge area for visitors who have successfully made their way up here! If you thought the observatory was all you get to see, you’re in for a surprise. The chapel of St. Lawrence is also situated here, a historical landmark from over 4 centuries ago!
