Mount Hotham

A Winter Wonderland especially for winter sports fanatics.

One of the largest and most iconic war memorials in Australia, Melbourne's Shrine of Remembrance stands proud against the sky as a tribute to fallen Australian soldiers who served in World War I and peacekeeping missions. This sombre site is the locus for annual observances of ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day. The interior boasts a beautiful awning that reflects a grim mood, while the balcony provides a window to the breathtaking views of Melbourne. The Galleries of Remembrance hold over 800 pieces of artwork, historical artefacts and personal effects too. Take a small break from the lightheartedness of travel and embrace the quiet reverence of a significant monument like the Shrine of Remembrance. When you are there, spend a moment in silence and remember the fallen - who gave their lives for their fellow men.

Tips Before You Go
There are many stairs here for visitors to get different vantage points, as well as visit the crypts. Those with difficulty walking may find it extremely challenging, so this might not be the most accessible place for them. Do remember to keep your volumes low when visiting as a mark of respect, and to turn your phones to either vibrate or silent mode as well.
