Delighting the inner child in all automobile lovers.
A self-proclaimed automobile fanatic, Prince Rainier III of Monaco began his quest to collect the most extensive collection of motor vehicles in the early 1950s. Over time he has amassed over 100 vehicles from more than 16 companies of fame and relative obscurity that burst the seams of his garage to be set-up as an official public museum. From the beginnings of the horse drawn coaches to the cutting edge race cars of the Grand Prix, Prince Rainier’s collection has it all.
The museum itself is a five level complex amidst the palms and Mediterranean brush of the Terrasses de Fontvieille. Walking down its aisles, visitors should look out for the open roofed antiquity, the 1903 De Dion Bouton or the lemon yellow coated Citroen Torpedo. Flat bodied and set with rectangular luminescent eyes, the 1986 Lamborghini Countach is another vintage beauty that is bound to have you on the balls of your feet as you rush to soak in the engineering marvels and breakthroughs housed beneath a single roof at the Top Cars Collection. If the rev of engines and the sight of bonnets with a metallic luster send your blood rushing on high, a trip to the Top Cars Collection will, without fail, have you whistling in delight.
