Mon Repos Park

Shady and cool, the best natural escape during the summer months.

True to its name, the Mon Repos Park is indeed a place of repose and rest. Interestingly enough, it is nothing like what you would expect from a traditional Swiss park, which makes it all the more worth visiting. Instead, it’s beautifully done in the English style, with a waterfall, an orange grove and even an aviary among its numerous attractions. Above all, it is an idyllic place to wander in for a quiet afternoon of meditation and self-discovery. Winding your way along the narrow paths, you’ll discover unusual features such as the ruins of a tower and a neoclassical temple, which only add to its atmosphere of exoticism and mystery. Its history gives it an even more exciting twist: it was visited by Voltaire, who used the country house to perform several plays. How do you feel about being in the same space as a historic heavyweight? If you’re ready to come back to reality, there is also a quaint little restaurant open during the summer months where you can have a meal. But if you’re visiting during another season, then don’t forget to pack your own lunch!
