Mogan Mountain

A paradisal getaway where you can bask in the serenity of nature.

Renown for being a sanctuary of peace and tranquillity, the Mogan Mountain Scenic Area looks like part of a completely different world. The mountaintops brush the clouds, the air is cool, crisp and refreshing, and every inch of the landscape around you is a soothing mix of various shades of deep green.

With dense bamboo forests, moss-covered rocks and lush shrubbery, the Scenic Area is a sea of green, broken only by the well-marked walking paths which are surrounded by endless rows of supple bamboo, regal Japanese firs and towering gingko trees. You can also expect to be frequently greeted by elegant waterfalls, which are dotted throughout the lofty mountains.

Some of the area’s highlights include the Tianchi Temple and the Sword Pond. Tianchi Temple is a striking golden temple nestled on the side of the mountain, only accessible by an arduously long flight of steps. The temple itself sits high above ground, supported by a huge wall which has the yin-yang symbol embedded into it. The sword pond is a calm, reflective pond hidden away in the heart of the mountain. Legend has it that a couple long ago forged two legendary swords in this pond – you can see a statue of them shaping their swords today.

Tips Before You Go
Be sure to dress warmly when you visit the mountain. Due to the dense vegetation and high altitude, temperatures here are much lower than in the cities.
