Agios Nikolaos, Greece
Mirabello Bay

Remaining true to its name till today.

Stretching from Mochlos to Elounda past the scenic town of Agios Nikolaos is the Mirabello Bay. The unimaginably large embayment carved into the eastern part of Crete is the largest bay amongst the Greek islands. Well situated villas leave tourists lost for words with balconies overlooking the mystical oceans, their waters shifting between a dozen different hues of aquamarine and turquoise. Pathways built along the bay’s edge serve as a great romantic escapade. The warm glow of the lamplight as the last rays of sunlight fade serves as a comforting presence as couples stroll along the scenic walkways at dusk. Walks aside, one can admire the curving embankments and well hidden caverns of the bay from the safety of a traditional catamaran or sail boat. Full-day cruises can be booked easily, allowing visitors to spend a day out in the middle of a rippling blue silk cloth. The whipping winds aboard a motor boat will leave traces of salt in your skin, the speeding propellers leaving a trail of foam in your wake.

Tips Before You Go
Most cruises and whole day boat rides available provide you with a variety of routes to choose from. An interesting pit stop would be the Mochlos fish village out at sea. You may not be able to fish but you will be privy to the remains of an early Minoan settlement. Swimming and snorkeling feature in most tours also require guests to bring along their own swimwear and towels but occasionally provide snacks and food along the way.
