MIMA

A new contemporary art museum in Brussels, Belgium.

The Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Art, otherwise known as MIMA, is a new contemporary art showcase situated along the banks of the Brussels Canal in Belgium. Brace yourselves for the most mind-blowing forms of art, one that you did not know even existed! That aside, there is also a permanent exhibit featuring works from Daniel Johnston, cinematographer Nicholas Karakatsanis, Mon Colonel and Spit. MIMA was only recently established in 2016 and has had several roving exhibitions year round. One of its upcoming exhibits, ‘Art is Comic!’, features works from Brecht Vandenbroucke, Mon Colonel, Spit and Joan Cornella amongst other eccentric artists. They attempt to use and abuse comics as an art form and ultimately wish to depict human comedy and extol the makeup of a cosmopolitan society. In fact, Boris Tellegen, known to produce graffiti masterpieces, has a 3-floor installation to promote the very essence of this museum – urban art. Those interested to immerse yourself in the temple of contemporary art can come down and attend a workshop teaching you to draw and collage to the sound of electro music. Get ready to emerge from MIMA as a more artistic person, contemporary art wise!
