Miami Children’s Museum

Where children can play, learn and be inspired by art.

Art can be perplexing, demanding its visitors to use unfamiliar and sometimes archaic adjectives to feign intelligence and good taste, and if adults are already stumped by the social difficulty of being in an art exhibition, what of the children who like children before pearls then? Age and cognitive maturity appropriate, the Miami Children’s Museum is an unpretentious art institution that exhibits vivid works of art conveying the tenderness of childhood, so pure and impressionable a time. Children are allowed to run along the hallways and are actively encouraged to learn and experience with all their senses.

As most of us are so busy being adults, busy with pursuits that can sometimes seem more like padding on an existence, we can forget ourselves and of a time when we were still innocent, our interests so easily piqued by the simple wonders of life that by the wear of time we adults have become sensitised to; the sight of a butterfly taking flight no longer urges us to jump and chortle in bright delight, we, instead, just stare and take a photo of it, claiming a paltry victory. The Miami Children Museum may seem like a wonderland strictly only for children to have their imaginations stimulated, but it is equally for the adults who have forgotten to tune into the occasional episode of “Adventure Time” to once more become acquainted with an aspect of living free of stress and worry.
