Megali Petra

Wild, untouched, remote, can there be a better place than Megali Petra for the wanderer in you?

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When in Greece, go to Lefkada, where some of the most darling beaches in the world lie. Somewhere in the wilderness of the island, surrounded by cliffs, under the glorious sun resides an unadulterated beach called Megali Petra. This place owes its name to its large rocks – Megali Petra means “big rocks”. It is easy to confuse this beach with its neighbours, Kavalikefta and Avali, all three of which are close to the village of Kalamitsi, but if you pay close attention to the road, you will notice that each has its own exit. Even though the shore of Megali Petra is partially organised with umbrellas, it is still largely wild and secluded, so do remember to bring along your own food and water. The pristine beauty of this beach, just like the others in Lefkada, will not disappoint you; the sparkling water is a vibrant blue while the sand is fine and gentle on your feet. Bring your entire family and cherish the memories that you’ll create here.
