This place owes its name to its large rocks – Megali Petra means “big rocks”. It is easy to confuse this beach with its neighbours, Kavalikefta and Avali, all three of which are close to the village of Kalamitsi, but if you pay close attention to the road, you will notice that each has its own exit. Even though the shore of Megali Petra is partially organised with umbrellas, it is still largely wild and secluded, so do remember to bring along your own food and water.
