Meet Factory

A place as confusingly wonderful as its name.

Wedged into an unlikely spot between a motorway and a railroad in the place of what used to be a former glass factory, is this gallery showcasing contemporary art founded by the controversial artist David Černý. Two slabs of “meat”, one of his sculptures, hang on either side of the entrance, guarding the rather rundown looking building. Completely non-profit, this museum exists for the sole purpose of bringing the wonders of contemporary art to the people, and uniting the artists with the art appreciators. All different genres of art and people of all ages are thrown into this melting pot of creative juices, forming a community that sees art in a whole different light. There is a sense of organization amongst the mess though, as the centre is separated in to four distinct sections - music, theatre, gallery and an artist-in-residence program. In the magnificent music hall that is kitted out with top grade acoustics, several music performances bring the joys of tunes to our ears. The Kostka Gallery features solo exhibits of both emerging and established artists, while the Wall Gallery is an enhanced version of traditional street art. The clubbing scene at this cultural hotspot attracts the most up to date hipsters looking for a wild night out with its crazy dance parties and phenomenal DJ beats.

Tips Before You Go
Be sure to check the website before you go as the exhibits and programmes change regularly. In the summer, an open air theatre is opened where you can enjoy the balmy warmth and fresh air while chilling out watching an entertaining movie.
