Medersa Bou Inania is the grandest and most elaborate medersa in Fes, the only one to house a complete mosque and a minaret tower. The Medersa is opulent and breathtakingly beautiful, boasting intricate cedar wood lattice screens, zellij tiles forming geometric patterns and astounding carved stucco. Every room is graced with shining marble floors and lace-like cedar wood beams.

All its rooms are built around a peaceful marble courtyard, the highlight of the medersa, with most of its decoration still well preserved. Its green and gold tiles and warm-toned cedar wood are bathed in a pool of golden sunlight, giving the courtyard a warm and welcoming atmosphere. From the courtyard, one will be able to peer across to the prayer hall which is separated from the main section of the medersa by a small fountain, with the source of the water coming from the Fes River. On each side of the courtyard are stairs which lead to the upper level with student cells.

This is truly one remarkable site which should not be missed!
